Don't forget to look at the other books in the series so that you can be an armchair time traveler.

We received this book to give an honest review.
Now this is a new empire for not only me but for K to learn about as well. I have never heard of the Ancient Mali Empire so I know for myself I learned a lot of different things that I have never heard of before.
We are told what is would be like to live during that time period though the eyes of a young girl. To what the structures were, to what they ate, and the traditions that they had. There is a big difference in the role that girls and boys play in this culture.
Very informative and this would be a great read to have in schools or libraries for kids to learn more.
K wanted to know more about the Mali that he has looked online so he could tell his teachers which I thought was very cool for him to do.
